Strawberry Chia Turnovers // Maple Tahini Drizzle
Who wouldn't want to know how to make pastries in under 30 minutes?
These are so stupid easy to make - simple ingredients with semi impressive results with little effort.

Perfect to make in a pinch for Brunch or Mothers Day.

They could be a lifesaver one day.

triple berry tart & perfection

triple berry tart
Puff Pastry can be a lifesaver in the dessert making department- easy to use, readily available & bakes up fast in a totally impressive way. Normally I have a few sheets of pastry in my freezer, you do need to think ahead a bit in order to defrost the pastry prior to using. I like to pop it in the fridge overnight so it is ready the next day.  I was in need of a quick dessert over Memorial Day Weekend; who doesn't love pastry and fresh fruit? This tart would also fit the bill nicely for 4th of July.

coconut oat scones // maple cinnamon glaze

coconut oat scones // maple cinnamon glaze
I don't make scones very often, but I had a super craving for scones and a cup of tea a couple weeks ago and couldn't get the idea out of my mind. There was only one solution- makes scones!
Keeping in theme with non dairy month, these beautiful little scones are made with Pacific's Organic Oat Milk. They turned out even better than I had imagined- you will want each and every last crumb.

blueberry turnovers // maple miso drizzle

blueberry turnovers // maple miso drizzle
This is one of the simplest dessert and/or breakfast treats you will ever make - like incredibly easy that the recipe is more of a method than an actual "recipe". The filling is interchangeable and the hardest part of making is waiting for the puff pastry to thaw out.  These little beauties would make an awesome Sunday morning treat or bake up a batch just before your bestie comes over for some girl talk.

blueberry crumb tart

blueberry crumb tart
I love all the beautiful fruits available to us in the Northeast this time of year- it is the start of blueberry season and I couldn't be happier. You can find these blue beauties everywhere from farmers markets, road side stands to mountain sides. Each year Justin and I make a special trip up one of the local mountains for early morning blueberry picking complete with a morning sunrise.

tomato tart

tomato tart
oh my, is it nearing the end of summer already? it truly feels like yesterday that i was writing my first post about how excited i was to venture to the first farmers market of the season.
now we are knee deep in bushels of ripening eggplant & tomatoes, abundant basil and the last of our "hot" weather crops are making the final push of producing before the cooler weather moves in.
this time of year , the transition from summer to fall has me craving warm fall soups, pies and tarts.
with summer still forging on and fall knocking at the door i decided to combine the two into what i think is the perfect dish combining the best of summer and a little hint of fall.

spring greens petite vegan quiche

spring greens petite vegan quiche
moms. they're the best.
they deserve breakfast in bed, freshly picked flowers and lots of love every day of the year.
one day out of the year they deserve an extra special breakfast, flowers they can plant that reminds them of each mothers day gone by, a day that we get to tell them how much we love them the remaining 364 days of the year.

my mom, there is no one remotely like her - she is amazing, one of  kind.
and I was lucky enough to spend mother's day morning eating mini quiche and chatting over cups of tea with her and Justin - although we did most of the chatting, Justin sat quietly by looking cute.

tourtière

tourtière

i am as french - canadian as you can get...well 50%

the other 1/2 - irish & english

i have a pepe and had a great meme

this recipe is in memory of our meme - my aunts have worked really hard to recreate the recipe that they remember her by, she never wrote down the original - they are pretty much spot on
A tourtière is a meat pie originating from Quebec, usually made with minced pork and/or veal, or beef. It is a traditional part of the Christmas and/or Christmas Eve réveillon and New Year's Eve meal in Quebec, Tourtière is not exclusive to Quebec. Tourtière is a traditional French-Canadian dish served by generations of French-Canadian families throughout Canada and the bordering areas of the United States

this year we had our first ever Houle Family Pork Pie Cook Off - vegan versus traditional

my goal - to prove a vegan pork pie could taste just as good as the original

citrusy scones

citrusy scones

meyer lemons, mineolas, tangelos, blood oranges popping up in the market is a sure sign that spring is on its way to new england. soon enough we will begin to see the first signs of spring in our own backyards; true story, as i am writing this it is the first day of spring and what do you know it just starting snowing- weather in new england is fickle, one day it will be a bright warm sunnyy 65* degree day everyone is excited you leave your coat at home, boots in the closet and the next day you have 5 inches of slushy snow on the ground and you are digging your boots out once again. mother nature is such a tease this time of year.
